Head Freshmen Coach: Mike Harand
Mike Harand is entering his first season as the Canyon High School Freshman Basketball Coach. Coach Harand is a graduate of Saugus High School. He played three seasons for the legendary Saugus Coach, John Clark. Following high school, Coach Mike studied accounting at California State University, Los Angeles. At present, Coach Mike is a Controller for a cosmetics manufacturing company in Chatsworth, California. He lives in Canyon Country with his wife of thirteen years, Dina, and his two boys, Matthew(12) and Joey (10). Coach Mike has been actively involved in both youth basketball and football over the past thirteen years. He is looking forward to developing tough, aggressive, and disciplined basketball players for Canyon High School.
Asst. Coach: Jeff Norwood
Jeff Norwood is a 1980 graduate of Saugus High School where he lettered in Varsity Basketball. His senior season, he was voted All Santa Clarita Valley. Coach Norwood went on to College of the Canyons where he continued to play basketball and received his Associate of Science degree in Industrial Technology. Coach Norwood has been employed with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for the past 25 years. He has spent the last 8 years coaching travel basketball teams and youth city teams including his own sons, Derek (14) and Matthew (11). Jeff enjoys spending time with his sons and wife, Anne, who he has been married to for 18 years. Coach Norwood is now looking forward to assisting Canyon High School's Freshman Coach, Mike Harand, this upcoming basketball season.
